Today we are sharing projects from Noemi of @chic_noemi on Instagram where she shares her airy and crisp styled makes with a touch of vintage flair.

Noemi started sewing at an early age, as her passion for sewing was passed down from her mother and grandmother. The love of crafting is shared by all the women in Noemi’s family. While she is an experienced stitcher, she especially enjoys creating zipper pouches and baby gifts the most. During the global pandemic Noemi was surprised by her husband with a sewing room all of her own. Needless to say, she is in love with the space where she creates these beautiful handmade wonders. Major points to her husband, who supports her creative outlet making space for Noemi’s sewing dreams!

Fun fact: Noemi has been raising chickens for long before it became trendy.

With a bundle of Camelot Fabrics Oxford Chambray Cottons in Blue and Sand, and Behind the Seams interfacings, Noemi created two fun projects for us to be inspired!

First is a custom made zipper pouch specifically designed by Noemi to fit her phone and other daily essentials.

While Noemi may not have needed another zipper pouch, she could not resist making this one. Her best tip when sewing a zipper pouch is to use a quality interfacing to line the outer fabric, here she used FoamPro Fusible interfacing which helps hold up the shape of the bag for a sturdy construction.

The pouch features the Blue Oxford Chambray fabrics giving a classy touch with diagonal machine quilting for a modern look. We are loving the expertly picked contrasting details like cork zipper pull and “Hand Made” tag.

Can we also appreciate the great choice of adding a yellow zipper with matching thread for a fun pop of color next to the Blue chambray? Noemi likes to sew tabs at both ends of the zipper right before she sews the zippers in place, sandwiching it between the outer fabric and inside lining. This zipper pouch measures 8”x 5-1/2”x 2”. We love the look of this chic bag and the smart choice of 1” boxed corners for added stability.

Next, is a mommy’s helper Diaper Pouch sewn using the tutorial available by Noodle Head.

Noemi was searching for a custom baby gift accessory she could make using the Oxford Chambray fabrics in Blue and Sand. Not only is the Diaper Pouch a useful gift but it looks tapered and stylish with the color-blocked placement. Instead of using the FoamPro Fusible stabilizer, Noemi opted for the Behind the Seams CloudFill Fusible Fleece batting this time. The Fusible Fleece gives the pouch the much needed structure with a great quality feel.

You can see the added top stitching along the rim and quilting along the lower half of the pouch which Noemi added to enhance the handmade details of the pouch. A simple closure was made using a polyester webbing strap to keep the contents inside with velcro for ease of opening. It can easily hold a stack of diapers and a pack of baby wipes, measuring at 8”x 10”x 2”.
