With an eye on what’s next in fashion and a passion for discovering textiles that stand out, Alan, our VP of Fashion Fabrics, plays an important role in shaping Camelot’s apparel textile offerings. From sourcing new and exciting fabrics to building relationships with clients, Alan is always keeping up with what’s happening in the world of fashion. Get to know Alan a little better as we put him in the spotlight with eight questions about his work, inspiration, and life beyond Camelot.

Describe your role.

I decide what kind of apparel textile merchandise we buy and sell these items to new clients, including fabric stores and clothing manufacturers.

What is your favourite memory working at Camelot?

When Steven and I did our first buying trip to China and Korea together.

What’s one thing that inspires you?

Fashion goods and fashion trends are always evolving. Staying fully aware of the trends and how they apply to our market is inspiring for me.

What’s the best lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

Don’t take anything for granted. Just because you may have done phenomenally well with a client one season doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll do the same the following season. You always have to work at it.

What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a great cook. I’m never intimidated to try preparing a new dish, no matter what it is.

I used to have a full head of hair. (LOL)

If you could instantly master any superpower, what would it be?

To be able to see the future.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Making clients happy. Getting positive feedback from the collections and seeing the results in orders.

Which Camelot collection or product stands out to you and why?

From the fashion goods, the 3D leather looks. Nobody else has them. They always draw different reactions, whether they’re useable for the client or not.

From the Camelot collection, it’s the creativity on the cotton prints. The reaction and enthusiasm from clients is wonderful!
